Hundai Verna
Hundai Verna 2023
The Hyundai Verna competes in a segment that is full of very worthy competitors with the Honda City and the Maruti Ciaz doing significant sales numbers and still finding favour with buyers. So, the Verna has its task cut out. Apart from the usual tweaks inside and out, the 2020 Verna gets a new face, and is now a ‘connected car’.
Judged against the old Verna, the new model comes across as a far superior product. It’s better built, even more, refined and comes packed with the latest of goodies, and then some. The competitive Hyundai Verna price, moreover, has helped its case but Hyundai has also made sure that it has a Verna for every sort of mid-size sedan buyer with numerous variants.
Hyundai Verna price start at ₹ 9.44 Lakh and goes up to ₹ 15.53 Lakh. Check out the entire Hyundai Verna variants on-road price in India. Get more info on Hyundai Verna new models, videos, latest news, and the up-to-date Verna four wheeler ex-showroom price.Exterior
The new dual-tone 16-inch wheels lend the Hyundai Verna good road presence and the LED tail lamps are the standout items on the rear end of the car. And of particular interest are a couple of new shades on the Hyundai Verna new model, with the Fiery Red and the Starry Night hues being standouts.
Moreover, the talking point for the 2020 Verna is the new face, replete with a sizeable Cascading grille, which is flanked by a pair of new full-LED headlamps. The dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels look far more upmarket and snazzier than the ones they replace. While the LED taillamps are the same in profile, the elements seem to have been revamped. The rear bumper, too, is now reprofiled.
On top of that, the Turbo variant of the Verna gets a gloss-black finished grille, front parking sensors, and a slightly revamped rear bumper with twin tip muffler.
Variants
The Hyundai Verna variants, namely, are S, S+, SX, and SX (O). Many convenience and safety features like side and curtain airbags, Smart Key, electric sunroof, automatic headlamps, cruise control, adjustable rear seat headrests, and leatherette upholstery are carried over from the pre-facelift model.
On top of that, the top-spec trim of the 2020 Verna now gets a fully-digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Blue Link connectivity suite, wireless smartphone charging, cooled glovebox, and front ventilated seats.
Interior
The interiors on the Hyundai Verna are slightly revamped and share the basic layout with the pre-facelift model. It features a standard 8-inch touchscreen that works really well and is quite sensitive to inputs, as well as featuring decent resolution. It also features Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink as standard, as well as navigation. With an Arkamys sound system, the audio quality on the Verna is also quite good. On the whole, the aggressive-set Hyundai Verna on-road price comes across as a boon given the extensive number of features on offer.
There isn’t much to complain about really, but if there’s an area where the Verna underwhelms, it’s the rear-seat experience. It is significantly down on space when compared to rivals like the City and the Ciaz, to the extent that it could be a deal-breaker for many, particularly chauffeur-driven buyers. Had Hyundai managed to eke out more room in the back, the Verna, seen as a whole, would have simply been hard to fault.
Engine Specifications & Performance
The 2020 Verna comes with two petrol and a diesel engine. The first of the two petrol engines is the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit, which is borrowed from the 2020 Creta. It produces 113bhp and 144Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual as a standard fit, while a CVT automatic is available as an option. Next is the 1.0-litre T-GDI three-cylinder petrol borrowed from the Venue, which is good for 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. It only comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
As for the diesel, it’s also the 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that does its duty under the hood of the 2020 Creta. Here, too, the engine makes 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
